Welcome to my new website. I have been practising acupuncture in Putney for 10 years now, and last year added Chinese Herbal Medicine to my practice. Studying Chinese herbs has added a new depth to my understanding of Chinese Medicine theory and practice, as well as refining my diagnostic skills. In addition to being able to offer a whole new treatment modality, studying herbal medicine has developed and refined my acupuncture practice.
As a Registered Nurse, I understand the need for conventional medical treatments, and I'm keen to promote an 'Integrative' approach to health, using the most appropriate treatments that 'Western' and Chinese medicine have to offer. Chinese medicine, based on the Daoist concept of Yin and Yang, brings a different lens through which health and disease can be understood. Focusing on root causes and 'patterns of disharmony' as well as symptoms, it necessarily takes a holistic approach, seeking to understand the relationship between Yin and Yang factors in the body, as well as the influence of internal and external environmental factors. This forms the basis of all diagnosis and treatment planning. In addition to discussing presenting signs and symptoms, a full medical history is taken, with careful consideration being given to current medications and treatments in deciding on optimal treatment protocols. Tongue and pulse diagnosis form an important aspect of diagnosis. Treatment principles and protocols are tailored to the individual's unique presentation of patterns of disharmony, and these change over time, as patterns resolve and new priorities emerge. Depending on the presenting condition(s) and patient preferences, I use acupuncture and herbal medicine together or separately.
As well as acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine, I offer massage and reiki treatments. All treatments are bookable online or by phone, text or email.
Enjoy the read and please feel free to call or email me if you have any questions.
